Taekwondo sessions

Taekwondo sessions

I was astonished to hear that we have had very few Year Five or Six pupils ask to join the Taekwondo sessions starting after Easter on Wednesdays. It’s a fantastic FREE opportunity to be introduced to a sport by a five time world champion. Please consider taking up this offer. £10000 of Lottery funding has been provided to make it available. 3.30 to 4.30, Wednesdays after Easter.

Science experiment – Battle of the Beaks!

Science experiment – Battle of the Beaks!

Over this term we have been studying inheritance, adaptation and evolution. Today the children carried out an experiment called ‘Battle of the Beaks’ based on Darwin’s theory of natural selection from studying finches on the Galápagos Islands.

The children will use their results to find the mean (average) of the data collected; this links to what they have been learning in maths. Then they will draw graphs and interpret the data which is the next topic we will be studying in maths.

House Points to anyone who can give me a definition of natural selection and explain what’s going on in the pictures below.

Student of the Week and Good Work

Student of the Week and Good Work

We have two students of the week this week. Leena Rashid for making super progress in reading and writing through sheer determination and commitment to extra tuition. Elizabeth Duckworth for her enthusiasm in class and her kindness to others.

Bronwyn Henshall is in good work for her dedication to being a sports leader in school.

Dylan Bradley is also in good work for producing excellent sentences in English.
