Fund raising next year

Fund raising next year

We try to provide as much notice as possible about fund raising days, by sharing details each July about our plans for the year ahead. From time to time events happen which suggest a response- e.g. Mrs. Machin is organising a non uniform day which we hope will raise some money to help mountain rescue teams address moorland fires.

Next years’ main themes for charity fund raising are as follows:

Autumn term:

  • Harvest festival-  children to raise money to support the Methodist “Shine Your Light” appeal-

  • also to continue to sponsor the education of ten Gambian children via the charitable organisation: “For the Love of Learning in Gambia”:

Spring term:

  • each class to choose their own local charity or community beneficiary

Summer term:

  • Fund raising for Dr. Kershaw’s/ Maggie’s of Oldham/ Cancer Research U.K.

Hey with Zion SATs results

Hey with Zion SATs results

SATs results went online this morning. The children will receive from their teachers a breakdown of their individual scores over the coming days. I am pleased to inform parents in the meantime that every single child who took the tests passed every test they took- i.e. “met” or “exceeded” national expectations.

The school’s “average point score” for each subject is as follows: Reading 109, Maths 108, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling 108. These are identical to last year, when Hey with Zion came top of Oldham in Reading, and 4th in Maths. We do not yet know how children from other Oldham schools have fared this year. The national picture is below:

Parents unable to come along then may share with me an email address and I’ll let them know by email.

SAT results, by the way, should come out before the end of next week.
