Story telling by a visiting author

Story telling by a visiting author

As part of National storytelling Week Year 6 enjoyed a visit from author and story teller Richard O’Neill. He told an amazing story and we all sat listening in anticipation of the ending …  but he didn’t finish and left us all wondering – what happened to Roman and Clara? Who won the race? Was it a happy ending?  Will we ever know?

Watch this space – our budding authors in Year 6 have created their own endings.

Young Leaders Award

Young Leaders Award

The  ‘Young Leaders Award’ is part of the Archbishop of York’s Youth Trust.  One of the first activities Year 6 worked on was a team building task carried out in small groups.  Throughout the programme the children will work on developing a range of skills and get involved with helping in the local community.                                  .

A group of children from Year 6 went to see the unveiling of the Annie Kenney statue in Oldham town centre this afternoon.  They learned about some of the local and suffragettes last year in history.  Today the group  marched with the ‘suffragettes’ from the gallery to Parliament Square before watching a short play about the life of Annie Kenney.
