Good work goes to Imogen Walters and Emily Mooney for fantastic work on latitude and longitude in geography.

1st week back

1st week back

It’s been fantastic to be back in school and Mrs Light and myself have really enjoyed getting to know the year 6 children. Everyone is eager to learn and all seem happy to be back in school.

We have PE on a Tuesday and are asking the children to come to school in their PE kits to minimise the possible risk of spreading the virus from surfaces. This should be an outdoor kit (tracksuit or joggers and a jumper) which will keep them warm in the coming months travelling to and from school but can also be used for indoor PE. However if this is not possible then please send your child’s PE kit in a bag, which they will bring home at the end of the day.

Spellings will be given out on a Monday, to learn for a test on Friday.

Homework will be given Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This will consist of English and Maths (2 pieces of each per week) and is due in the day after it has been set. The homework usually consolidates class learning and should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete. We also ask that the children read at least 50 pages a week.

We have had a good couple of days and are looking forward to the rest of the year with our new class.

Good morning year 6, below is todays Maths work. Please have a look at the topic work on the Oak National Academy. Don’t forget to send any completed work to myself or Miss Light at s.patterson@heywithzion.oldham.sch.uk or j.light@heywithzion.oldham.sch.uk for feedback.

  • Spend some time reading and remember to let us know what you are reading.

  • Maths:  Today’s work is on circles – look at the power point then have a go at the following:

English: I’ve attached a SPaG mat for you to complete.
